Aquatic Centre in Saint-Denis
Building for life, building for thrills
In the heart of the Plaine Saulnier mixed development zone, the Aquatic Centre in Saint-Denis is a symbol of architectural and environmental excellence, as well as a legacy for future generations. This world-class project, designed by Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France and Bouygues Travaux Publics teams, subsidiaries of Bouygues Construction, meets a wide range of challenges, from staging flagship sporting events to promoting universal access to sport.
It is an iconic structure that will be a place where people of all ages and nationalities can come together to cheer on their sporting heroes.
The Aquatic Centre will continue to be a focal point of community life as a meeting place and activity centre for the local population. Promoting access to sport for all, it will become a place where local residents can learn and try their hand at sport, fostering sporting activity and social cohesion.
Architectural and environmental excellence
An uncompromising commitment to sustainability sets this innovative project apart. The framework and roof of the main pool area are made entirely of timber sourced from France and Scandinavian forests, and the glazed facades, lined with external sunshades, are also made of wood. In all, more than 1,200 tonnes of bio-sourced materials were used in the Aquatic Centre, demonstrating Bouygues Construction's commitment to the rational use of resources in its construction methods.
In short, the Saint-Denis Aquatic Centre perfectly illustrates Bouygues Construction's vision: building for the future by putting people and the environment at the heart of its concerns.
