BCA Academy training centre
Building for life, building for training
Dragages Singapore was chosen by Singapore’s Building & Construction Authority (BCA) to construct its signature project: the extension of the BCA Academy, consisting of two buildings of 7 and 16 floors, with a total surface area of 21,800 m². This training centre offers high-quality educational courses to a wide range of people through a comprehensive range of courses focusing on the construction industry environment.
The BCA Academy project stands out for its bold vision, featuring two emblematic buildings: the Zero Energy building and the Super Low Energy building. The first is made entirely of wood, and the second is prefabricated. This innovative approach reflects the BCA Academy’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in construction.
Construction on the site included the simultaneous installation of innovative construction methods such as Mass Engineered Timber (MET), Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) and the Advanced Precast Concrete System (APCS). The construction site was quieter, cleaner and quicker thanks to these off-site construction techniques, which radically transformed the look and feel of the site.
Renowned for its innovation and excellence, the BCA Academy has been awarded Bouygues Construction’s Topsite Innovation label, as well as several industry-wide distinctions, including the BCA Greenmark Award and the University Design Mark Award. This pioneering project established the BCA Academy as a benchmark for sustainable, resource-efficient construction, ushering in a new era of responsible urban development.
