Bouygues Construction gears up for COP21
COP21, a commitment to the future
|
COP21 is being organised under the presidency of France in Paris from 30 November to 11 December 2015. It will bring together the 195 countries who ratified the United Nations framework agreement on climate change, adopted during the Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992. The stakes for participants are high: finding an agreement to limit global warming to 2°C. COP21 also aims to accelerate and energise the transition to resilient and energy-efficient societies and economies. Delegates representing the countries, institutions, observers and citizens - in all, more than 40,000 people will be in attendance during this historic event. Companies are not watching from the sidelines, they are directly or indirectly contributing to climate change and will be vital players in finding effective solutions aimed at limiting their carbon footprints. Their presence is essential for making COP21 a success. |
Sustainable and innovative solutions
Confronted with the challenges of the energy transition and the fight against climate change, Bouygues Construction has developed an energy-carbon strategy that provides a two-fold solution: reducing emissions caused by our activities and supporting our customers as they adapt to the realities of climate change. Today we are allocating 50% of our R&D budget to sustainable construction and our investment efforts are especially going towards projects and solutions :
- protecting all forms of biodiversity (urban, nocturnal, submarine...)
- integrating efficient and energy saver materials such as insulating concretes or timber which stores CO2
- contributing to the transition towards a carbon-free society (renovation, eco-neighbourhoods, smart grids, services to cities...)
Two opportunities to (re)discover contributions made by Bouygues Construction
Bouygues Construction will present its expertise and offers during two trade shows held alongside the summit:
- World Efficiency (stand Hall 1, C46), from 13 to 15 October at Porte de Versailles in Paris, an event for energy-efficiency professionals dedicated to the issues of dwindling resources and climate change.
- The Galerie des Solutions from 2 to 9 December at the Bourget Air and Space museum, an international exhibition on climate solutions held near the site of COP21.
