Bouygues Construction is awarded a contract for two condominiums in Mumbay, its first residential construction project in India

Eternia- Enigma - Bombay
The property developer Oberoi Realty has awarded a contract for the construction of two condominiums in Mumbai, India, to a joint venture consisting of Bouygues Bâtiment International and VSL, both of which are subsidiaries of Bouygues Construction. The project, which is worth approximately €100 million, marks the Group’s first development in the property sector in India.

Nicolas Borit, Bouygues Bâtiment International Deputy CEO in charge of Asia-Pacific, said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen to carry out this massive project in India. The global expertise of Bouygues Bâtiment International coupled with the rich local operation experience of VSL was the key to winning this contract in one of South Asia’s most buoyant markets.”

The two upmarket complexes, named Eternia and Enigma, have been designed by architects of HB Design in Singapore, with whom Bouygues Bâtiment International has already worked on two projects (The River and Northpoint Pattaya) in Bangkok. The complexes, which will nestle against the buttresses of the Sanjay Gandhi national park, will provide an exceptional panoramic view of the cosmopolitan district of Mulund, one of Mumbai’s most verdant districts, in the northeast of the city.

Located on two adjacent sites along Lal Bahadur Shastri Road, the two complexes will include four towers, providing 1,840 apartments and 4,977 car parking spaces, representing a total floor area of 605,000 m2. The 59-storey Enigma will stand 201 metres high while the 56-storey Eternia will stand 192 metres high. Situated in one of the most dynamic suburbs of Mumbai, the condominiums have been designed with bespoke fittings and quality standards, which are on a par with the most prestigious residential developments. A diverse array of facilities will be included: landscaped gardens, swimming pools, a hammam, a yoga room, squash courts, children’s play areas, etc. In line with the principles of sustainable construction, the project will target LEED® environmental certification.

Works will begin in May 2016, and will involve 2,350 people on-site at peak periods. Delivery is scheduled for end 2019.

The award of this contract is an illustration of Bouygues Construction’s dynamic growth in Asia. The Group has progressively developed its activities in the region, particularly in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar, delivering a number of landmark projects which have covered both the building and civil works sectors. It is also currently involved in a number of major design-build projects, including the Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok undersea road tunnel, the largest, longest and deepest tunnel in Hong Kong; the iconic luxurious City of Dreams hotel, the fifth hotel tower in Macao; and the MahaNakhon Tower, the tallest building in Thailand.
