Bouygues Construction is chosen to build the Woodleigh Lane Residences development in Singapour, a new innovative modular construction project

Woodleigh Lane Residences
Dragages Singapore, the Singapore-based subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, has been chosen to build the Woodleigh Lane Residences residential development by CEL Unique Development (CELU), a joint venture consisting of Chip Eng Seng Corporation and Unique Real Estate. The contract is worth €113 million.

Located in the heart of District 13, in central Singapore, Woodleigh Lane Residences will consist of six 15-storey buildings with a total of 805 apartments, as well as underground car parks and a swimming pool. The complex offers a total of 58,641 m² of floor area.

Nicolas Borit, CEO of Bouygues Bâtiment International, said: “The Woodleigh Lane Residences development is a new milestone in our growing activities in Singapore. We are delighted to have been chosen for this project, because it demonstrates our expertise in modular construction. We are going to see a complete disruption in the next few years: our clients expect ever more efficient and faster building solutions. Through the experience we have acquired on a number of projects, we are able to provide modular construction solutions today which fully meet their expectations, from design through to the construction of the final product.”

The innovative project proposed by Dragages Singapore was based on a modular system in reinforced concrete, with 65% of the superstructure factory-built. These modules will be manufactured in a controlled environment, making it possible to optimise quality, safety and delivery times. They will then be transported to the construction site, thereby limiting noise, dust and nuisance for local residents.

Dragages Singapore has considerable know-how in modular construction, an innovative building method that is very popular in Singapore, which it has already implemented on a number of benchmark projects, including an extension to the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the Woodlands nursing home and the Clement Canopy 40-storey residential towers. With expertise covering the manufacture, transportation and installation of modules, Dragages Singapore can offer a comprehensive high added-value solution to its customers on this promising market.

Works began in January. They will last 33 months, with handover scheduled late in 2020.

The award of this new contract is an illustration of Bouygues Construction’s dynamic growth in the Asia-Pacific region, where the Group has a long history and generates 16% of its annual sales. It is currently carrying out several residential projects in Singapore, including the Clement Canopy development, the Bideford Road property complex and the redevelopment of the Golden Shoe Car Park, which will be one of the tallest office buildings in the central business district of Singapore.
