Through its subsidiary Dragages Macau, Bouygues Construction has been awarded a construction contract for a value of HK$3.677 billion, roughly €360 million, for a 6-star luxury hotel in the heart of Macau’s

“City of Dreams” entertainment complex, by Melco Crown Entertainment Limited, the owner and developer of casinos and leisure and entertainment complexes.   

“City of Dreams”, this unique entertainment venue offers concerts and shows, including the world’s largest water-based show, a vast contemporary space devoted to gambling, designer-brand shopping, numerous hotels and restaurants and the most prestigious nightclub in Macau. The new 6-star hotel project will be a new emblem for this unique complex.  

The project comprises of 783 bedrooms including 10 villas, a casino, restaurants, conference rooms and a sky pool. The 39-storey building will provide approximately 151,000 m² of floor space. 
Dragages Macau is responsible for the construction of “core & shell”, including reinforced concrete structure, structural steel exoskeleton, curtain wall and cladding.  Works are now under way, and are scheduled to last for more than three years. 

Over 1,000 employees will be working onsite at peak periods.

This new project in Macau illustrates Bouygues Construction’s know-how in building and refurbishing luxury hotels. The Group’s Hong Kong subsidiary constructed the Island Shangri-La and Conrad hotels in 1991 and the Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel in 2009, and it took part in refurbishing the Mandarin Oriental in 2006. In Paris, following the Four Seasons George V, the Grand Hôtel Intercontinental, the Fouquet’s Barrière, the Royal Monceau, the Shangri-La and the Prince de Galles, the Group is currently renovating the Ritz and the Crillon. In international locations, Bouygues Construction is also currently engaged on a number of luxury hotel complexes in the Caribbean, Morocco, Singapore and Dubai.  

Bouygues Construction continues to develop rapidly in the region. Its subsidiary Dragages Hong Kong completed the Cruise Terminal Building in 2013 and is currently constructing two rail tunnels for the Hong Kong-Beijing high-speed line and the first stretch of the bridge that will link Hong Kong and the cities of Zhuhai and Macau. Dragages Hong Kong has also won a contract recently to build a 4.2-kilometre undersea road tunnel that will link the New Territories, north of Hong Kong, to Lantau Island, where the international airport is situated.
