Bouygues Construction signs a 212 million euro contract for construction of a shopping centre

Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, has signed a 212 million euro contract with Icade and Klépierre for the construction of a large shopping centre in Aubervilliers, just outside Paris, France.

With a surface area of 56,000 sq. metres, this centre will include shopping facilities and 20,000 sq.metres of offices. Located near the “Périphérique” inner ring road around Paris, it will have high environmental quality (HEQ) certification.

Designed by architect Antoine Grumbach, the shopping centre will have space for 95 shops (food stores, garden centre, clothes shops and personal outfitters, arts and cultural products, etc.), a restaurants and food outlets space, and leisure areas, including a 4,000 sq.-metre interactive visitor centre devoted to the subject of television. A 2,800-space car park will also be built. The complete complex will be in a pleasant setting designed by landscaper Michel Desvignes on the themes of water and nature.

Construction work has started recently, and will last for a little less than three years. Completion is planned for early 2011. At its peak, construction work will involve 500 people. Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France is contributing to the economic and urban development of this neighbourhood, particularly through measures taken to promote local jobs, under the authority of the client’s representative, the Icade / Ségécé consortium.

Bouygues Construction is currently working on several shopping centres in France and abroad. The Group recently completed shopping centres in Moscow (Russia) and Bucharest (Romania).
